We&#8217;ll walk through how to integrate with <strong>Zapier<\/strong> and <strong>Microsoft Power Automate<\/strong> so that you can connect your third-party apps, making automation a breeze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the links in the article for more information on each topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-installation\">Installation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make sure you have a <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/k\/getting-started-with-wordpress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WordPress website already set up<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure your WordPress site operates with a valid SSL certificate (HTTPS).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log in as an admin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/k\/downloading-and-installing-the-plugin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Install and activate<\/a> \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/the-events-calendar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Events Calendar<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/products\/wordpress-events-calendar\/\">The Events Calendar PRO<\/a> for event-related automations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/event-tickets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Event Tickets<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/products\/wordpress-event-tickets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Event Tickets Plus<\/a> for ticket\/RSVP-related automations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Configuration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#zapier\">Zapier configuration<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#h-power-automate-configuration\">Power Automate configuration<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"zapier\"><a href=\"#zapier\">Zapier configuration<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, configure the plugin so you can add the Zapier integration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important: <\/strong>We recommend generating an API key for each of our Zapier applications (i.e.: 1 key for The Events Calendar and 1 key for Event Tickets)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow these steps to make that happen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Head over to <strong>Events or Tickets &gt; Settings &gt; Integrations<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find the Zapier Section\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enter a description for the API key (optional).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the desired WordPress user (defaults to logged-in user).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the <em>Generate <\/em>button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2023\/01\/pasted-image-0.png\" alt=\"Events &gt; Settings &gt; Integrations to set up Zapier integration with Event Automator\" class=\"wp-image-1954735\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>The Consumer ID and Consumer Secret will only be displayed immediately after they are generated. You&#8217;re ready to <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/creating-a-zap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">create Zaps<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pro Tips: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will need to repeat this process for The Events Calendar App and the Event Tickets app.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We recommend creating a separate API key for The Events Calendar and Event Tickets apps (each has its own Consumer Secret and Consumer ID).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bonus: <\/strong>Check out the dotted menu in each app to manage your connection (i.e. test, reconnect, rename, delete).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2023\/01\/pasted-image-0-5.png\" alt=\"The Events Calendar app in Zapier\" class=\"wp-image-1954741\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:var(--global-palette8)\">First time using Zapier? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLqzJRGwum4KO2ISMYKmK0Ci7hm_508NfO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zapier University<\/a> is a great place to get started and get up to speed on all things Zapier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Unable-to-Verify-the-First-Certificate\">The Challenge: &#8220;Authentication Failed: Unable to Verify the First Certificate&#8221;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you encounter the following error when trying to establish a connection to your WordPress site, follow these steps to resolve the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Unable-to-Verify-the-First-Certificate-1024x596.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1964173\" style=\"width:525px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Unable-to-Verify-the-First-Certificate-1024x596.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Unable-to-Verify-the-First-Certificate-300x175.jpg 300w, https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Unable-to-Verify-the-First-Certificate-768x447.jpg 768w, https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Unable-to-Verify-the-First-Certificate.jpg 1212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This issue typically occurs when your web host provides an SSL certificate that is not globally trusted. As a result, Zapier or other external services are unable to verify the certificate, preventing a secure connection to your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To determine if your SSL certificate is the cause of the problem, use an online SSL checker tool like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sslshopper.com\/ssl-checker.html\">SSL Shopper<\/a>. Simply enter your website URL and review the results for any errors or warnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the SSL certificate is not globally trusted, contact your hosting provider and inform them of the issue. They should be able to replace it with a trusted SSL certificate issued by a recognized Certificate Authority (CA) such as Let\u2019s Encrypt, DigiCert, or GlobalSign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the new SSL certificate is installed, use the SSL Shopper tool again to confirm that it is correctly configured and globally recognized. Ensure that there are no security warnings or verification failures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the SSL certificate is validated, try reconnecting Zapier to your WordPress site. This should resolve the authentication error and restore secure communication between Zapier and your website. Well played. Yes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But wait, you are not done.
