It lets you keep a list of interested attendees when an event is sold out or during pre-sales. You can effortlessly create a waitlist for both free and paid events by adding it to your tickets and RSVPs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-theme-palette-8-background-color has-background\">\ud83d\udc4b Note: This feature is available with our premium plugin <a href=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/products\/wordpress-event-tickets\/\">Event Tickets Plus<\/a> since version 6.2.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-configuring-the-waitlist\">Configuring the Waitlist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In order for the Waitlist section to be available you need to create at least one Ticket or RSVP and publish your event. In the Classic Editor, the Waitlist section appears when editing an event. The options will differ depending on whether it&#8217;s a ticket or an RSVP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Waitlist for Tickets<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When tickets are on pre-sale or sold out &#8211; shows before tickets go on sale and when tickets are sold out<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before tickets go on sale &#8211; shows until ticket sale start date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When tickets are sold out &#8211; shows when ticket capacity runs out<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Waitlist for RSVPs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When RSVP is on pre-sale or at maximum capacity &#8211; Shows before the RSVP start date and after RSVP reaches maximum capacity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before RSVP starts &#8211; Shows until the  RSVP start date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When RSVP reaches maximum capacity &#8211; Shows when RSVP capacity runs out<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve added the Waitlist here is what users will be able to see on your site:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"554\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1964423\" style=\"width:425px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-1.png 554w, https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-1-300x213.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After submitting their details, a success notice will appear, letting them know when to expect a follow-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"572\" height=\"239\" src=\"https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1964425\" style=\"width:469px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-2.png 572w, https:\/\/images.theeventscalendar.com\/kb\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-2-300x125.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 572px) 100vw, 572px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-theme-palette-8-background-color has-background\">\ud83d\udc4b Note: Besides events, you can use the Waitlist feature on tickets added to posts and pages as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-waitlist-emails\">Waitlist Emails<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the existing Ticket Emails, you&#8217;ll find those specifically used to follow up with waitlisted users. Users will first get a confirmation notifying them that they are on the waitlist for a specific event. There are placeholders included, but there\u2019s also some generic text that you may want to customize to better fit your event.
