With just The Events Calendar, you can use this plugin to identify and add any missing event data easily.

Venues, Organizers, and Events

Once you install the plugin, you’ll notice a few items added to your Events menu in the WordPress Dashboard.

You can click on Optimizer to bring up the settings with this plugin. Once there, you can click on Venues and see all venues with invalid data.

You can make edits right on that page and Save Changes. You can also identify any duplicate venues and organizers that need to be cleaned up. Add optimization with Google Places (Pro version) once you have that integration set up.

It’s worth noting that with the Pro version, optimization occurs automatically; you’ll have to enter data and merge duplicates manually with the free version.

You can also find the Events with invalid data option under Events in the WordPress admin menu. Adding in all of the information is certainly not necessary, especially if you don’t have it.

It’s good to keep in mind that adding in as much information as possible will help to increase you chances of getting your events seen on search engines. Google Search Console can show you missing information if you enter your site URL, but it’s much easier to resolve it on WordPress first, where you can see everything in one place.

Google Places API

In order to get the most out of the premium version of the plugin, you’ll want to add a Google Places API key, using their quick start guide.

Once you enter your custom Google Places API key under Settings, you can use the Optimization with Google Places option for each of your venues, organizers, and events. It will auto-fill the information as found on Google, instead of having you manually enter it.

Settings

On the Settings tab, you’ll find settings that alter the number of results shown at once. You’ll also get to decide how close of a match your venues and organizers are when identifying duplicates.

The last group of settings relate to the Google Places API, where you can enter your key and update your formatting based on your location.

Don’t forget to click Save changes when you’re done!

Events Optimizer and Events Optimizer Pro is a third-party plugin to help you clean up and update event, venue, and organizer data on your WordPress site.
